Become a certified Design Sprint Master
The program welcomes participants who possess knowledge and hands-on experience with Design Sprints and are pursuing the title of Certified Design Sprint Master.
Understanding of Design Sprints
Knowledge gained from the Sprint Book, Google Design Sprint Kit, or through participation in online or in-person design sprint courses.
Experience with Design Sprints
Experience as a design sprint facilitator/co-facilitator or as an active participant in a live design sprint workshop.
Key areas you need to be familiar with in order to pass the theoretical exam are: identifying and framing the sprint challenge; planning and engaging stakeholders; guiding the team through the sprint process, and synthesising test results for future planning.
Ensure you allocate your time effectively during the 76-question theoretical exam, which must be completed within 1.5 hours. With up to five attempts available, strategize each attempt to enhance both your performance and understanding.
After passing the theoretical exam, focus on facilitating a real design sprint, which includes planning, preparing the sprint, guiding the team, and capturing insights. Start with a low-risk sprint and partner with a co-facilitator for a more comprehensive learning experience.
I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: Design Sprint Master Level 1. I’m grateful for the opportunity that I had to participate in the Service design sprint cohort provided by DSA. I had the opportunity to work with our expert colleagues John Vetan and Dana Vetan who were generous to share some of their experiences and fieldwork in service design and facilitation across many sectors.
I have obtained the Design Sprint Facilitator certificate from Design Sprint Academy which is the result of successfully passing a rigorous assessment designed to evaluate the facilitator’s understanding and proficiency across all five phases of a design sprint. To many upcoming Design Sprints ✌🏻
After finishing official Design Sprint Academy training and obtaining the Design Sprint Certification Level 1 a few months back, I’m happy to share that I’ve proved my practical expertise and received: Design Sprint Master Certification Level 2 from Design Sprint Academy! Thank you, John and Dana for a very insightful learning experience.

What are the Design Sprint Certification levels?
The program comprises two levels. The first level focuses on foundational knowledge of Design Sprint principles, including identifying challenges, planning sprints, managing teams, and synthesizing results. The second level validates your skills in applying these principles in real-world scenarios, including facilitating an actual design sprint.
How is the Theoretical Exam structured, and what are the requirements?
The theoretical exam is a 76-question online multiple-choice questionnaire covering four core topics related to Design Sprints. It requires 1.5 hours to complete, and candidates have up to five attempts to pass. A minimum score of 70% is necessary to qualify for the Design Sprint Master Certification.
What does the Practical Exam entail, and how is performance evaluated?
After passing the theoretical exam, the practical exam involves facilitating a real design sprint, including planning, guiding a team through exercises, and capturing insights. Your performance is evaluated based on a video recording of your facilitation and a comprehensive report summarizing the sprint's challenge, process, and results
How can I pay the examination fees?
The fees for both exams can be paid through PayPal, which accepts both credit cards and PayPal accounts. The fee for the Design Sprint Facilitator exam is €100, while the Design Sprint Master exam fee is €300.
What if I need to retake an exam?
If you need to retake an exam, you have the option to do so up to five times, in line with our retake policy. For detailed guidelines and conditions for retakes, please refer to the specific information available on the certification platform.
Do I need to take your courses in addition to passing the theoretical and practical exams to become certified?
No, taking our courses is not a mandatory requirement for certification. Successfully passing both the theoretical and practical exams is sufficient to achieve certification
