Forward Deployed Engineers need to combine deep technical expertise with the ability to understand business problems, work with domain experts and shape what gets built. Our three-day training strengthens the facilitation side of the role, giving your FDEs structured methods and practical tools to guide discovery, redesign workflows and make better decisions with customers.
Forward Deployed Engineers are expected to deliver working AI systems in complex enterprise environments. But before defining the technical solution, they need to understand the business problem, how work happens today, and what should change.
FDEs need to challenge the assumptions behind the initial request. What is the business actually trying to achieve? How does the work happen today? What should change before AI is introduced?
A poor process remains a poor process, even when AI makes it faster.
This creates three practical challenges.
A customer may arrive with an idea or a specific technical request. The underlying business problem, expected value and constraints still need to be understood before deciding what to build.
The people doing the work understand its steps, handoffs and exceptions. FDEs need to work with them to question the current process, identify what should change and redesign the workflow around what AI makes possible.
Experienced FDEs develop their own ways of working with customers. As the team grows, a common process helps make problem discovery, cross-functional collaboration and decision-making more consistent across deployments.
This training is for Forward Deployed Engineers who are expected to:
Identify and prioritise high-value AI use cases by understanding the business problems behind customer requests, connecting opportunities to business goals and assessing what is worth building.
Facilitate cross-functional discovery workshops by bringing customer stakeholders, domain experts and technical teams together, structuring collaboration and guiding decisions.
Redesign workflows with AI by working with domain experts and operational teams to challenge existing processes and determine how work could be done differently with AI.
Apply a common process across deployments to move from an initial request to a defined AI use case, a redesigned workflow and a clear plan for what to build and test.
Participants learn to guide a cross-functional team from scattered AI ideas to a shortlist of well-defined, prioritized use cases.
They practice connecting AI opportunities to business goals, understanding the people affected and the problems they face, and evaluating potential value, feasibility and data constraints.
Along the way, they learn how to structure discussions, manage different perspectives and guide teams toward decisions. The outcome is an AI Use Case Card that gives the customer’s decision-makers and the FDE team a shared basis for deciding what to pursue next.
Participants learn to guide a cross-functional team from a defined AI use case to a redesigned workflow and a clear plan for building and testing the new AI workflow.
They learn to map how work actually happens today, identify friction and bottlenecks, and redesign the workflow around business outcomes and the capabilities AI makes possible.
They then define success measures, identify technical, data and adoption risks, and turn the selected solution into a storyboard and build plan.
They also learn how to prototype and test the agentic workflow, providing evidence for a decision to scale, iterate or stop.
Participants learn by doing. The training is run as a live workshop, where participants work through both methods, practice facilitation and experience the decisions involved at each stage.
They leave with the complete facilitation toolkit — playbooks, agendas, slides and worksheets — so they can prepare and run these workshops with customer teams.

Forward Deployed Engineers have responsibilities spanning customer discovery, solution design, development and deployment. This training strengthens one important part of their role: the ability to confidently facilitate AI discovery and workflow redesign workshops with customers.
They also leave with the complete facilitation toolkits — playbooks, step-by-step agendas, ready-to-use slides and worksheets — so they can prepare and run workshops without having to design them from scratch.
Build the facilitation capability once. Use it across deployments.

Bring together your Forward Deployed Engineers from across your deployment teams.
We'll deliver the training at your office, using real business challenges and workflows. Your FDEs learn and practice together, in the context of the work they'll be expected to lead with customers.
Three days. Up to 24 participants. In-person at your organization.

Once your FDEs start facilitating discovery and workflow redesign workshops with customers, we can support them through their first sessions.
We'll help with preparation, review workshop plans and stakeholder selection, and debrief afterward to identify what worked and what needs improving.
Format: Remote coaching and advisory support

If you only want to train one or two FDEs, they can join our public AI Facilitator Training in Berlin.
They'll learn the same methods in a small group alongside practitioners from other organizations. It's also an opportunity to experience the training before committing to a larger internal cohort.
Three days. Up to 8 participants. Berlin
